Ein Kaulquappe repräsentiert die Metamorphose im Tierreich, indem sie sich anpasst und ihre Form verändert, um in ihrer Umgebung zu überleben. Dasselbe Prinzip gilt hier. Der Spyderco Poliwog CLIPIT® gedeiht in einer kleinen Messer-freundlichen Umgebung, während er die notwendigen Eigenschaften behält, um in einer harten, schweren Schneid- und Leistungsumgebung zu glänzen. Seine charakteristische offene Kugellager-Verriegelung (Ball Bearing Lock™) legt die inneren Mechanismen des Messers für eine einfache Reinigung frei und zählt zu den stärksten Verriegelungsmechanismen von Spyderco. Wenn man den Ball zurückzieht, wird die Klinge beidhändig von beiden Seiten des Messers entriegelt.

Die Hand legt sich auf den gekrümmten Griff, wobei der Zeigefinger in eine Choil positioniert wird, die die Kontrolle optimiert und während des Schneidens weniger Ermüdung und Druck auf die Hand erzeugt. Hergestellt aus VG-10, hat die Klinge eine hohle Schneide mit einer gewichtsreduzierenden Schleifung (swedge-grind), die sich von der Mitte des Rückens bis zur Spitze erstreckt. Sie ist in PlainEdge erhältlich. Sein beidhändiger Drahtspannungs-Taschenclip setzt den Poliwog mit der Spitze nach oben in die Tasche.
