Es wurde zur Lösung von Not- und Überlebenssituationen entwickelt und eignet sich aufgrund seiner Eigenschaften besonders als Ausrüstung für Piloten, Flugzeugbesatzungen und Fallschirmjäger.
Dieses Messer wird derzeit an die 49. Luftkavallerie-Hubschrauberstaffelgruppe „Capricorn“ geliefert, die in der Kaserne „Francesco Baracca“ in Casarsa della Delizia (PN) stationiert ist und Aufgaben wie bewaffnete Aufklärung, bewaffnete Eskorte, Angriff, Tiefenangriff, Präzisionsangriff und Feuerunterstützung wahrnimmt , Unterdrückung von Luftverteidigungszentren und Sicherheit. Sie trugen auch aus der Luft zur Bodensicherheit der italienischen Kontingente in Somalia, Albanien und im Kosovo bei.
